You say you have 4TB of RAID1 storage? But how is this possible with modern day hard drives? I thought RAID1 was mirrored images of a *pair* of drives, so 4TB would need two 4TB drives, unless you meant that you have two 2TB HDD’s in RAID1, totaling 4TB (With 2 usable)? Maybe I am just reading it wrong I don’t know…

    Joe-
I should have been more clear. I have two 2TB drives in RAID1. I am planning to *go to* 4TB in the future. Thanks for catching that.

When I think of people working @ nvidia, I think of a bunch of hardware architects and managers of all sorts who sleep, eat and live HPC.
To read something like this gives a feel of diversity and balance, which is very beautiful.
Ever since 2007 with the first CUDA-enabled GPUs, I’ve been a huge fan of your work. Been at the GTC 2010, and keep getting more and more amused with what’s happening in hardware architecture, and the excellent developer ecosystem you maintain.
Congratulations. Hope to see you again in 2011 GTC.

Thanks for your comment, Joao. I really enjoy working here. I get to work with great people who are really passionate about the cool products we build.
Glad you liked GTC. We hope to make next year’s conference even better!

This post somehow describes how I use my desktop too – the photo editing takes a big portion of time. I was kinda surprised, that you are editing in “big” Photoshop. Used to do just that, but it’s not flexible and after discovering Lightroom I never looked back and use PS only for special pictures (big size prints, fine tuning, heavy editing). Lightroom has awesome workflow for processing big batches of pictures (just like you have those 500 from volleyball game, I end up with the same number from party or concert). The options and possibilities are very similar to PS itself, but it’s much more streamlined and faster. Give it a try if you already didn’t! The only drawback is, that it doesn’t really utilize GPUs – but PS doesn’t either for most of the normal photo processing :-) .
One question – I have never seen or heard about 24 inch LCD with 2560×1600 resolution. Whats the model, or it’s just a mistake in the article?

    Madciapka-
Many people have suggested Lightroom. I will check it out. Thanks.
Also, my 24″ monitor is a Dell. It’s resolution is 19×12. My mistake.
