TEGRA 2 COMES TO T-MOBILE USA, FEATURES TEGRA ZONE

We’re excited about T-Mobile USA’s upcoming, Tegra-powered LG G2x super phone and G-Slate tablet for lots of reasons.  One of which is that the G2x will be the first device to feature our new Tegra Zone app preloaded; another is that both the G2x and G-Slate run on T-Mobile’s 4G network, so downloads and cross platform gaming will be lightning fast.

Haven’t heard of Tegra Zone? It’s a free app on Android Market that makes it easy to find games optimized for super phones and tablets with Tegra. You can find unique, premium Android games with impressive graphics and smoother gameplay, such as Dungeon Defenders: First Wave Deluxe HD, the first Android game built on Unreal Engine 3, as well as Samurai II: Vengeance, Fruit Ninja THD, Vendetta Online and Galaxy on Fire 2 THD, and more.

    This is Jon for India.G2x super phone of LG really very beautiful.When anybody will see this phone they will only say that Kash Aap hamare hote.It’s a great acivment for LG.So nice look and grat feature.

    I’m an owner of the Motoralla Xoom. I was super excited to hear it was using the Tegra 2, but now after owning it and using it I’m finding a lot of shortcomings. The video playback stutters and according to all the sites I’ve researched it’s pointing at the Tegra 2 as the limiting factor. I can’t imagine that such a powerful chip can be outdone by even the older iPad, ipods, iphones and various other andriod phones using single chip processors with a fraction of the power when it comes to playing HD videos. Is this really the case? Did i really invest in an expensive piece of equipment built on old technology? I’m also reading other companies slated to use the Tegra 2 are now dropping it due to the limitations on video playback?

    I’ve been a big fan of nvidia since my first geforce2 card and mobo chipsets. I just can’t fathom that such a powerful chip fumbles over video playback. Is there any type of fix / update that could remedy this?

    Wow… Nvidia, your PR department isn’t doing much for you here.
    I’m hoping that the new platform works out for us all, but it would probably be a good idea to reply to comments in your public forum. Seeing a lot of ill-will. Out of 4 posts, you have: Two unanswered questions, one regarding a bug. One complaint/assertion based on past experience, and one barely intelligible fan post.
    Not a good showing.

    What is Tegra 2? Does it have any relationship to the Tegra chip I have on my Adam? If so, can I update my Adam to Honeycomb??

    Please advise, as I ordered my Adam based on Andy Rubin’s statement that I could upgrade to Honeycomb!

    Just to update my comment, the Tegra 2 is unable to play videos encoded in high profile h.264 smoothly. While it will still play it will have continuous stuttering throughout the movie. Basically a good percent of HD content that is available for streaming is encoded with h.264 high profile. This also includes a lot of SD content as well that is encoded with HP h.264. So Tegra 2 fans/users be prepared to do a lot of re-encoding to enjoy HD content that no doubt your device has marketed as one the selling points for it like the xoom. It doesn’t take away from the quality but it triples the size of the file.

    However besides the video playback issue the Tegra 2 for basically everything else is solid! Especially for games that take advantage of the chip. So if you use it more for games and apps and not so much for videos then you will definately be impressed.
