Intel’s MIC offers a much more mature programming model for more complicated problems. I wouldn’t think GPU is the world’s solution to exascale computing if GPGPU continues being GPGPU only instead of truly massively parallel. On the other hand, Knight Corner is significantly closer to being a good massively parallel architecture. Its scaling is explicitly dependent on number of cores instead of on the size of data. It allows device-wide synchronization, albeit in a manner that’s still potentially inefficient. But I’m into CUDA and I really hope Kepler would have some similar, if not better, features to offer.
