man, maybe i should wait!…….. AGAIN!!!!

Can every company PLEASE pause the development of new technology, so your gadgets don’t feel inferior like a week after you bought them?

this one for ice cream i guess..

They dont really need to. It may be inferior to what the company just put out, but the latest and greatest stuff is only barely used fully by software 2-3 years later. Programmers are always behind!

For the love of all thing tech related, please confirm/deny whether Kal-El is being released in October or not lol!!!

Why aren’t you guys working with Google so when they launch a new Nexus phone, it should have your chip in it?

I’d like to see Nexus 4 having Kal-El at Google I/O next year, or Kal-El+ if launched in autumn again, although it would be even better if it came with Wayne, but that would mean they should wait until December-February when you’re ready with the new next-gen chip for phones. That might be best. Get Google to release a new Nexus phone when your next-gen chip is ready for phones – so this means Nexus 4 with Tegra 4 (ha!) late 2012, or early 2013.

I promise you it’s not just me thinking this. People have come to expect the Nexus brand to set the tone in specs for the next 12 months, but lately that hasn’t been happening, and it probably won’t really happen with Nexus Prime, either.

Your Tegra chips always seem 6 months ahead of everyone else (only when you don’t delay them for almost as much! Seriously, get ahold of that!), so it would seem like a perfect match for new Nexus phones.

Bill – We’re excited too. You do not have too long to wait.

  • Matt Wuebbling

Lucian – Good suggestions. We’re always looking forward to the next round of mobile devices running Android. It’s a fast market and we’re doing our best to innovate and stay ahead. Stay tuned.

Scott – I can confirm it’s coming soon, very soon. :)

PLEASE make a mainboard with HDMI (like beagle board) available as soon as possible and provide Linux drivers for it (including Video de- and encoding and OpenGL).

I am searching for something to power my upcoming HTPC, and this is crying to be the perfect solution!
And don’t ruin it with cheap parts that raise power consumption. Just take a tablet mainboard design and remove some unneeded chips. :D

    That would be awesome!

Sounds pretty awesome… like optimus technology but for soc. I look forward to this new processor coming out with great anticipation… especially for tablets but also in smartphones. I wonder if I should put off getting a dual core tegra 2 phone untill kal el is available… what do you think?

Brilliant idea reminds me of the optimus technology of which I am a proud user .

It seems like an intelligent decision to use a lower power core with high performance core. But what do you think about using more lesser power requiring cores than using only one because as i see and as mentioned in the paper, there are lot of background tasks and tasks which doesn’t ask for much computation power and these tasks are basically the only computations running most of the time. So, do you think it would be wise to  replace more cores with lower power cores.

One more think i would like to discuss, i read that basically companion core shuts down when other cores start working. what is the problem with keeping the companion core running at lower frequency and keep it providing some work and start doing rest of the work on the high performance cores ?

    Thanks !

I want it!! NVidia, you did it!

Why should companies put progress on hold for a few who don’t want to ‘feel inferior’?

I like the name , I bet it is derived from the “Companion Cube” of Valve’s great game : Portal !!
