Take your time with the drivers it’s only been a week from your first promise. Not many people here are keen to get them. OH WAIT this post has +50 comments while most of the things posted here hava less than five.

To put this in a few words: Please release a BETA you can still save yourselves!

  • lilalien

If you’re still holding them back, fix those Firefox hardware acceleration issues!

  • Asbjørn

Couldn’t agree more. They look like an nVidia bug (no issues reported on AMD cards), so fix it. You’ve only know about them since the Developer Preview…
Seriously, though, where are the drivers? It’s funny how you’re suddenly supposedly caring so much about quality – driver quality isn’t really nVidia’s strong side. I guess you’re really just late and trying to hide behind a veil of “quality” – and I still don’t understand how you can be late. You are acting as if you got the Release Preview build the same time we did, but we all know you have had that particular build since May 18th and candidate builds long before that…
I’ll only believe your quality story if you’ve actually fixed the Firefox issues this time – otherwise we know that you have only been feverishly catching up.

I am running with Windows 8 since months, now with the new Release Preview I am very happy with the new kernel, I have noticed the new memory and resources management. But I am waiting for new nvidia drivers with natively support, FXAA and Adaptive Vsync, want to play Max Payne 3 over Windows 8 with full support. Someone knows how long will take the delay for R302 drivers?

  • luis burgos

Unreal nvidia prefer to lose costumers instead of releasing the drivers .. shame on you nvidia

  • Chris_Daniel

    All,
Thank you for your feedback. As a result of your comments, we have changed our release plans and updated the blog above with our new release plans:

[Update] 6/11/2012: We apologize again for the delay of the WHQL-certified driver for the Windows 8 Release Preview. Please know that our software team is working around the clock. Thanks to your comments, we have decided to post a beta driver in advance of the WHQL-certified driver. Our developers are targeting a beta driver release in the next 4-8 days.  We’ll update you again on status of the driver, this Friday.

bah, i tried an nvidia card for the first time in 15 years because the ati7970 had an over heat problem, so got the 680, win 8 preview comes out and who has drivers on the same day? ati. ffs now i have this crappy nvidia card and can’t play in win 8. thank god an ati rep heard of my 7970 woes, and has offered me a 7990 when it comes out! won’t be for at least a month, but then i can unload this nvidia piece of crap on Craigslist or something and get back to a real video card company, 15+ years of great cards.

Where are these drivers, this is seriously getting ridiculous im having problems with every driver set in Windows 8 Release, its really starting to be annoying, im also having host process erorrs I don’t know if anyone else is but I have to restart, along with pink screen lockup.

  • Mottyengel

just announced. a beta will be comming in the next 4- 8 days

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=222407014 Aristide Mooyaart

Please release the beta now! I don’t care how buggy it is as long as it fixes the freezing issue I currently have with 301.42. I installed the RP on the understanding I should get the drivers a few days afterwards – still nothing.

Don’t make promises you can’t keep Nvidia

  • r3loaded

    Guys…calm down for a second:

    1) Windows 8 is a *beta*. It’s for *testing* so don’t cry because your computer is crashing with it. Use Windows 7 if you need to get work done.
    2) Drivers are very complex pieces of software, especially for complex hardware like video cards and needs a lot of low-level programming. Give them time.
    3) You need to let them iron out most of the bugs. For example, on my desktop system I’m running the Windows 7 drivers, but Windows 8 has changed enough to cause some odd lockup issue with Google Chrome. If you harass them to release early, chances are you’ll get a massive show-stopping bug like that which they haven’t had the opportunity to fix.

    1) I never had this many problems with Windows 7 betas.
    2) They had the same time as AMD.
    3) Anything would be an improvement over nothing! I would rather they would release a beta now and fix the main bugs.

  • Asbjørn

There are two issues here, and there is no excuse for any of them.
    1. nVidia promised a driver for early last week. That didn’t happen. If this were an exception, then perhaps we’d understand, but nVidia never keeps deadlines and that is not acceptable.
    2. AMD released drivers promptly. nVidia has had access to builds for a long time and thus there is no excuse for not releasing on time. nVidia has had plenty of time, so what is the problem?

  • fio

Windows 8 Release Preview is not a beta but a Release Candidate (RC) to be the final version (RTM), which apparently will be ready by the end of July …. so the operating system is already beautiful and done ! bye bye -.-”

  • Jacob Boyce

You spoke one day too soon.  Apple just announced yesterday that their new Macbook Pro’s will be using…. nVidia cards! lol

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Warren-Taylor/1626673728 Warren Taylor

Dude, after all the delays, you’ve got serious credibility problems.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=503993465 Dylan Dunford

The problem is that they claimed they would have a driver out…but then they don’t release it and leave everyone in the dark about it, finally coming out to say it will take another week just for a beta version…

IF they just were just honest about it & said it will take 2 – 3 weeks in the first place, people wouldn’t be freaking out as much!!

    Release the Drivers already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always been a HUGE Nvidia fan… But seroiusly i am GREATLY DISAPOINTED.
Damn you even named the 660 a GT on the drivers page… And it’s a GTX!!!!
God wtf are you people working on?

  • Krystian Gorzynski

Look guys, I’m affected by this just like everyone else, but to compare to AMD?  We all know AMD’s drivers suck.   Yah they will get them out on time but they will never perform as well as Nvidia’s drivers.   And yes the freezing has really made things difficult for me as I end up with corrupted files on booting back up.  I lost hours of coding work because of it.  But thus far I have disabled my NVidia card in device manager as I do have the optimus solution.  Here’s hoping it works with the intel enabled.   For those with optimus give it a try.

  • https://facebook.com/fahdriyami Fahd Riyami

Another delay?! Sure, why not forget about people running the RP as their primary OS. I guess i’ll have to stick with HD 3000 graphics for another 4-8 days -.-

    All,
Earlier this morning we posted beta desktop drivers. We expect to be able to post the notebook drivers tomorrow morning. See blog update above for the links.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=222407014 Aristide Mooyaart

BF3 keeps crashing about 2 minutes into game play on my 680. Please help!

On the other hand my computer no longer freezes randomly :)

  • Chris_Daniel

Atristide, please provide all your details on the forum. GTX 680 passed testing on BF3 with this driver so we’ll need full system specs, settings, etc. You may also want to try reinstalling the driver again. Here is the link again: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=231690&st=0

Well on the positive side I got to see the new system recovery options. On the negative side these drivers caused BSOD installing from the Microsoft default drivers with a nvidia 9600 GT and a GTX 560 Ti installed (Windows 8 x64 edition)

  • Chris_Daniel

This morning we posted the beta notebook GeForce 302.80 drivers for the Windows 8 Release Preview. In order for us to best address your feedback, please direct all comments regarding this driver to the feedback thread on our moderated forums (see link above in Blog update).

  • Chris_Daniel

Hi Ahmed, this driver supports 9800 GT (Device IDs: 0601, 0605, and 0614). Please don’t install via the device manager. Manuel’s instructions on the forum may also help: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=231690&st=0.

If you still have issues, please provide all your details in the forum thread.

    Thanks

I am not able to install this driver on my dell xps 1340. Chipset is 9400M  G. I have win 8 x64. while installing i am getting hardware not found :( Please help me

  • http://www.facebook.com/stuart.lang Stuart Lang

I am in the same situation. This is a joke nvidia, please talk to us about when this will be fixed or if this is intentional. You driver download page offered this driver pack to me based on 9400M, so it must be a bug right?
