How do you deliver a great virtual desktop experience and continue to support the same number of users?
You use the new Windows Server 2012 RemoteFX feature with NVIDIA VGX hardware.
Our VGX graphics cards are designed to serve up GPU-accelerated virtual desktops with better graphics performance than you’d see in current non-GPU accelerated installations.
Here’s how it works: RemoteFX shares the NVIDIA GPU across multiple virtual machines to accelerate DirectX 9 and DirectX 11 (now available with Server 2012) applications. This means RemoteFX- and VGX-powered virtual desktops support the Windows Aero interface, plus Microsoft Office applications and graphics-hungry applications.

In the end, RemoteFX and VGX allow you to deliver a better performance and user experience to your existing user base.
On the flip side, you can use the extra VGX horsepower to deliver the same level of virtual desktop performance to a greater number of users.
The VGX GPU handles all graphics processing duties, allowing the system to free up work from the CPU. In turn, the CPU can potentially support more users – translating into lower cost per user.
The first NVIDIA VGX graphics card – announced last month at NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference – supports up to 100 RemoteFX users simultaneously. It uses its 16GB of on-board dedicated graphics memory to run those 100 displays at up to 1280×1024 resolution. With fewer users, it can also support higher resolutions and even multi-display configurations.

Server 2012 drivers are available today on NVIDIA.com for use with our current Quadro cards and RemoteFX. The new NVIDIA VGX hardware will be coming from major server vendors beginning later this year.
