Congratulations Raytrix for advancing the light field camera market!

As great as the quality control and research implications may be, I want this technology to fall into the creative hands of filmmakers…

Isn’t it the same idea that Adobe was showing some years ago?

  • Gary_Rainville

The essential idea of this technology was first proposed by physicist Gabriel Lippmann in 1908!

My understanding is that Adobe came up with a prototype a few years back while Raytrix is one of only a couple companies to produce commercially available 3D light-field cameras.

Readers can find out more about Raytrix’s real-world applications of the technology in a variety of videos and gifs here: http://raytrix.de/index.php/applications.html.

Yes! Imagine if scenarios like Felix Baumgartner’s recent stratosphere jump were filmed using this technology. And then imagine strapping yourself into an amusement park thrill ride based on the same.

How is this different from the light field camera produced by Lytro? They use the same light field concept.
