In the sixties and seventies there was an interest in cooperatives, but in the eighties there was a downturn in the interest of such things.  Now comes the urban farm movement to a small city near you, but how long will this last?  The urban farm is a great concept that should really take root throughout the country, but how would this work in a city like New York.  I would love to be active in the urban farming movement; Green-jeans has nothing on me. Although, how would this impact on local farmers in the region? The cooperative movement was based on cooperation between the distributors and local food cooperatives to be able to work together for the common good.  How does one set up a urban farm; is there federal, state and city aid for the establishment of such farms.
