    Hi,

I have two ASUS GTX 560 TI DCII TOP graphics cards in SLI configuration. (They are default factory overclocked to 900mhz)
When I play battlefield 3, I don’t have any problem as soon as I do not enable the Anti Aliasing option. Whenever I enable AA I started to see huge fps drops and if I enable the 4xAA the drops are much worse and eventually the game crashes.

I did a test about this. (I have 8GB ram in total) Before I start the BF3 my total RAM utilization was 1.8GB. After I started the game it was around 4.3 GB , then I enabled 4xAA and I started to watch the RAM utilization. The RAM utilization constantly grew and when it reached somewhere around 5.8GB the game crashed. 5.8-1.8 means bf3 was utilizing ~4GB ram at the moment of crash.

Do you think this can be a memory leak ?

  • Jean-Rene Vidaud

I had to reinstall 275.33 because 285.62 kept on crashing – Geforce GTX 460 – Windows 7 64 Bits (crash and recover)

Thanks for the observation. BF3 can consume a lot of memory at high settings and with large maps as you are seeing but we have not seen evidence of a memory leak. I’d be interested to hear if you have issues at reference GTX 560 clocks. Also try our new 285.79 driver.

I’ll give that a try tonight or tomorrow.
Still waiting on EA to patch the freezing.

I just wanna mention sth important to all of the ppl who’ve got Asus Geforce Gcards installed on their machines. If u have freezes & crashes to desktop, the only solution is to uninstall GamerOSD & SmartDoctor as it seems Asus softwares are the source of crashes in this game and some other games. I was unable to play the game & had all the time crashes to desktop & none of the drivers could solve my issue, though uninstalling Asus GamerOsd & SmartDoctor did the trick. Game is running smooth now with latest driver.
    Cheers,

Well thanks. But that driver sadly does not solve the crash bug many people encounter with OC 560 Ti cards.

    Hi,
Any news from gainward about 560Ti Golden Sample?

  • Anonymous

I raised the core voltage to 1050 mV and lowered the clock to 820 Mhz standard. Played a considerable time BF3 without a crash. I also use now a custom fan speed curve to ensure temperatures below 62°C. I don’t know though which of these factors contributed most. MIght be either one of them or all.

The issue is still not fixed. I have a 560 ti and experience the artifacting. If you check the Nvidia forums, other people are still reporting it as an issue on their 560 Ti cards

From what we can tell so far this isn’t a driver bug. We continue to investigate with our partners and other issues with the developer.

  • Anonymous

We expect the game to patch this issue in the future. Our next driver release (next week) will have further workarounds for the issue but the complete fix will come from the game.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I did not only mean the BF3 crashes but also the display driver reset one can encounter occasionally with Firefox for example. That sure sounds like a driver bug. Especially since a driver upgrade led to it (never had that before!).

  • Anonymous

Yes we are still actively investigating solutions for the browser TDRs.

  • Anonymous

That is good news, because these are quite a nuisance.

Thanks for letting us know. Has DICE given any indication on when the issue will be addressed completely? The glitch is really severe and makes games unplayable at times.

  • http://twitter.com/AhmedJQ Ahmed Qureshi

DICE claims to have fixed the issue with their latest patch, but I’ve tested it and it still hasn’t been fixed . In fact, in some ways, it’s gotten even worse for me.

I’m hoping NVIDIA has a possible solution in the works, as this glitch is kind of severe.

Same here. Patch notes say something about a black screen on some configs. But the crash bug is still there. Crashes every 60 seconds unless I underclock and “overvolt” my 560 Ti Golden Sample. If I do that it is very stable.

Hi, Guys i hope Nvidia do something with this soon ,  I am also having the  crash problem  but i was able to workaround a solution , it seems that the problem is with the game itself ( btw i hate that “#$% origin) try this :
      -go to device manager
      -select your realtek audio
      -disable it

note: what i do to hear is that i use the audio from the videocard (hdmi GTX460), also you can try using a USB headset …trust me this works ( i have played more than 8 hours non-stop and without a crash since i tried this)…also i noticed that the ATI people are not having the problem anymore so maybe i will buy an ATI video card since i dont think DICE will fix this.

  • Alexis Rojas

I think they wont, something similar happened in BF2 ( other cards) and EA never fixed it ( as long as you buy the game they wont care).

hi,my battlefeild 3 just crashes within a duration of 15 minuets , game hangs and stops responding and finally i have to ctrl+alt+del to get out.Got the latest drivers , bios updates , extra fans so no over heating, psu big enough to support anything i put in but still all i get is crash.I have never overclocked my card a nvidia gtx 560 ti as i never felt need for it so it stays at factory set 822 mhz.I have tried it on win 7 32 bit and 64 bit but still the same with my zotac gtx 560 ti.I am just sick of it , first it was crysis 2, call of juarez bound in bood etc now battlefeild 3, it is all like i will have to go all over again posting and trying to find a solution.First i thoust that my card was faulty (3 months back) so got it replaced 2 times but this 285.62 kind of solved my issue but not completely .IT is 3rd time this is happening to me so finally i am gonnga ask for my full refund or else i will move to consumer court as i never paid for this kind of product .I was far more satisfied with my low spec nvidia as i never had to write so much to tech support etc .
My system specs are: Graphics: zotac NVidia gtx 560 ti Processor: Intel i5-2400 @ 3.10 GHz, gigabyte motherboard Memory: DDR 3 RAM 4 GB OS: Windows 7 SP1 32 bit. PSU: Cooler master 750 watts NVidia Driver: 285.62 version.

Hi Hitesh, this is a system/card specific issue. The NVIDIA forums are the best place for help. If you give me your user name for the forums I can help get you in contact with Manuel.

    i go by name “hiteshyadavh”,
Chris i am so fed up of having issues with my gtx 560 ti , i got it replaced 2 times thinking it was a faulty one but later i found out that it not just with me but with a lot of people with the same product and same issue.
The issues i faced went to negligiable level afet this latest driver update but now while NVIDIA so proudly promots its name with battlefeild 3 me with a whole lot of bunch suffer this glitch .
It is like no lag no weird graphics  just plain old crash to desktop .

  • Anonymous

What quality setting at you playing at? We’ll look you up on the NVIDIA forum.

  • http://www.facebook.com/hiteshy Hitesh Yadav

Chris the issue i am facing is a lot similar to what you discussed with “fatBaron” only difference being that my vendor is ZOTAC which still has no clue about it (no bios updates etc).

  • Anonymous

Which by the way is still not solved. Manual underclocking and overvolting is the only way.

  • http://www.facebook.com/hiteshy Hitesh Yadav

i play in setting set to ULTRA , with that the screen resollution set to 1440*900(default).So far no lag or low FPS , it just the crash to desktop.

  • Anonymous

Does the issue also occur at High settings? Ultra is known to hit game crashes on your level of graphics card. This is not specific to NVIDIA cards. We have reported this to the game developer.

  • http://www.facebook.com/hiteshy Hitesh Yadav

yes chris the same thing happened again in high settings, this time the only diffecrence being a few more minuets added to gameplay around 10 more minuets
