The doors don’t open until tomorrow at Computex in Taipei, but ASUS has just taken the wraps off its latest tablet: the Tegra 4-powered ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity.

The device was dramatically unveiled by ASUS Chairman and master showman Jonney Shih, at the company’s annual splashy press meet up. The event, themed “We Transform,” riveted some 600 reporters, partners and other attendees, who were packed into a ballroom set with less than half that number of white, tightly draped chairs.
The first in a stream of impressively innovative products announced by the Taiwan-based maker at the event, the new Transformer Pad is among the world’s very first devices to feature the world’s fastest mobile processor, Tegra 4.
“The new ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity, with its incredible features, is indeed the best possible combination of emotion and function,” Shih told the crowd.
Powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU, 2nd generation battery-saver core and 72 custom GeForce GPU cores, Tegra 4 delivers best-in-class gaming and entertainment. Thanks to Tegra 4, Transformer Infinity Pad customers will benefit from faster web browsing, including support for WebGL and HTML5; smooth HD video playback with 4K video support; and outstanding battery life.
