so…you’ll be releasing it sooner than the 31st i hope, Will? Please?

  • http://blogs.nvidia.com/ Will Park

Hi Chris. We’re not ready to talk about final ship date just yet, but rest assured it’ll happen soon!

  • vidvox

Can you assure us that it will happen this month?

  • MicroByte

Went to see a demo unit here in the Dallas area, the Shield looks amazing! Wish it would have been hands on instead of under a case though. I really hope it’s released this month, lease at least put something out if it’s delayed further, not knowing is a disservice to those who are excited about the system and day one buyers.

  • Brian_Caulfield

    Thanks for the feedback!

  • TheCubicGamer

In my eyes the SHIELD is amazing and compared to other handhelds like the 3DS and the Vita, it beats em’ spec-wise. It has a lot of potential. What you guys at Nvidia need to do is try to get game developers interested in making exclusive games to the SHIELD, games that push Tegra 4 and the SHIELD to its limit. Without good games and software people wont get interested and the SHIELD has less chances of being discovered by other handheld gamers. By games I don’t mean Angry Birds and all… I mean real full fledged handheld games.

  • Sagar Rawal

Yeesh…I hope you guys don’t can this product if you can’t drum up the pre-sales fervor you expect…

But I’ll be pre-ordering a Toshiba Excite Pro to get a taste of Tegra 4 in case you do!

  • discobrisco

So when the hell do i get mine please… I would love a date, even if it’s the last of the month.

  • http://Techgage.com/ Matthew Harris

That’ll really drive up interest because as we know, everyone in the U.S. lives either in the bay area or New York.

  • TheCubicGamer

Has the problem been fixed yet? Are you now only waiting on a release date for the shipping to be done on?

  • Brian_Caulfield

Noted. We’ve got a full calendar of promotional events at trade shows and retail outlets… so hopefully we’ll have an event that will give you a chance to get some hands-on time with SHIELD. Thanks!

  • Brian_Caulfield

Thanks for the feedback. Always welcome. Keep it coming!

  • MicroByte

For anyone interested, I went back and took some pictures of the demo station and posted them to my Shield blog:

  • TheCubicGamer

I guess, in short, I wanted to know if the Shield is as or more powerful than the modern handheld which is the 3Ds and Vita. If it is I can only imagine the type of games that can be made for this, if not I understand completely since SHIELD is not even competing with the handhelds anyway.

  • Lee Aaron

So, we have been asking for any type of update possible on the original blog post about the delay but get no responses. Now you create a new blog post about checking out SHIELD in some locations.

Is it really that hard to update those of us on what the progress of SHIELD? I must say the customer relations has been pretty bad since the delay announcement. I would expect this from a no name company but from Nvidia? I’m pretty shocked…

I pre-ordered and paid via PayPal so my money is long gone to you guys. If this thing isn’t shipped by the 31st and communication doesn’t improve between now and then I’m going to have to cancel my pre-order. I dont want to because I think the product will be good but if you can’t even update us on the progress or answer our questions how can we trust you to support your product well? How can we trust in timely updates from you guys?

I know this is your first “console” so I’m trying to give you guys a break but at the same time I’m expecting more from a company like yours.

Communication is all a customer really wants. We never want to feel like our questions are being ignored because that makes us feel like we don’t matter to you.

So… I know you won’t give us an official release date but can you at least tell us if July still seems feasible? Can you give us any information about how the replacement or fixing of the bad part is coming along?

Can you talk to us at all? Give us a little confidence that we aren’t just forking over money for something that won’t be supported well…

Any bit of information will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • http://blogs.nvidia.com/ Will Park

Yes, we are still on track to shipping by end of July.

  • http://blogs.nvidia.com/ Will Park

Hey Lee, I know everyone who pre-ordered SHIELD is anxious to get their devices. Just wanted to let you know we are still on track to shipping by end of July. We’ll confirm dates with you shortly.

  • HiLuckyB

I’m very happy to hear this!

  • Lee Aaron

Thank you for the reply Will. I’m very glad to hear this!

  • Chris Anton

me toooo, ya know, it would have been much better for them if they would’ve delayed it and THEN gave us the 50 dollar discount. That way it could’ve been like “oh we’re sorry, here’s 50 bucks for the wait”

  • HiLuckyB

I’m not happy with the last min delay and the lack of info about what was wrong, But $50 is a bit much. I am unhappy that I pre-ordered on Nvidia’s website and had to pay for shipping, Where newegg gave free shipping, and gave people who order with them $10 or $20 back for the inconvenience of the month delay where Nvidia has done nothing but say sorry.

  • Nick Bartlome

I tried to cancel my preorder because of lack of updates and was told I could not because the order had shipped. Now I wish had not bothered preordering this, and I can promise I will NEVER preorder from nvidia again. Guess I will have to wait for this to actually ship, but who know how long that will take.

  • Brian_Caulfield

We’re still on track to ship by the end of this month. Stay tuned for more specifics.

  • Brian_Caulfield

Very cool. Thanks for posting. And thanks for the feedback!

Will Park, will  it be released in uk as well? i know you have showed shield in london

  • John Lynn

Hey Will.  Are you going to do any more videos of the SHIELD on the website. One suggestions would be a quickstart guide type of video.  How to do initial setup, getting PC streaming working, etc.  Looking forward to recieving my SHIELD.  Best of luck on the upcoming launch.

  • blindexecutioner

I know it isn’t concrete evidence but Gamestop changed the release date from the 31st to the 25th today…

  • Brian_Caulfield

Can’t wait to get your feedback once you get your SHIELD!

  • Christopher Columbus

News is courtesy of… ME.  lol  I announced this on the other blog post.  Gamestop is their main brick n mortar retailer so I would assume this has validity.  No reason why they would change from 7/31 to 7/25 for no reason.

    So it should be correct.

  • Miguel Parra

Nope, your comment was 16 hours ago, his is a full day ago, he was first to report it.
And who cares who did it first anyways :)

  • Chris Anton

I care! im the interwebz comment judge. I hereby award one point to blindexecutioner, this makes christopher columbus 0 and blindexecutioner 1. Further points awarded to either opponent if they can post smack talk to eachother in a timely manner! winners will be announced in written form and delivered by something called the post office…

  • jason sundaram

Cant wait to get my hands on to the Nvidia Shield. Thanks for the detailed videos on Shield Will.
