December 21, 2007Hey, Forbes just named NVIDIA their Company of the Year! It's a really big honor and we're head over heels about it here in Santa Clara.
The criteria for selection are mostly about the company's financials, stock performance, and corporate governance. Stuff that, while really important to the beancounters with the green eye shades, isn't exactly as exciting as Crysis or Bioshock. But the Forbes web site has some neat articles accompanying the Company of the Year announcement about GPUs, hot game titles, and pimping your PC that you may want to check out.
Since most you probably don't have Forbes on your RSS feed, here's the link to the articles that you otherwise might miss.
NVIDIA has partnered up with Childs Play, an organization that donates games and hardware to children's hospitals throughout the US, to auction off an Alienware Aurora 7500 gaming system.
The system was won in a raffle by a GeForce LAN 4 attendee last month and was donated by the winner to be auctioned off for charity.
It comes equipped with two GeForce 8800GT graphics cards running in SLI, 4 GB of DDR2 memory, and an AMD Athlon 64 5200+ CPU. As a special bonus, Jen-Hsun Huang, the CEO and co-founder of NVIDIA, will sign the system for the winner. There’s a little more than 24 hours remaining on the auction, so hurry up and bid. It’s for a great cause!

There is a new hotfix for GeForce SLI customers running DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 applications: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945149.
This hotfix resolves some scenarios where gamers have experienced lower-than-expected performance when running in SLI mode. This performance fix does not apply to all scenarios and games, but if you’ve experienced SLI performance problems with BioShock (DX9), Company of Heroes (DX10) at high resolution, Rainbow Six Vegas, and Unreal Tournament 3 chances are it will help.
