GeForce 9600GT: The Ultimate Bang for Your Buck

Looking to build a new gaming rig on a budget? Want to upgrade your older GeForce® 6 or 7 Series graphics card with something that can play cutting-edge DirectX 10 games at a price you can love…and can afford? It turns out you are in luck. We’ve just released the first GPU of the next-generation GeForce 9 Series, the GeForce 9600 GT.

Geforce_9600_gt_3qtr

The GeForce 9600 GT brings the biggest single-generation performance jump in NVIDIA’s history, increasing gaming performance up to 116% over the GeForce 8600 GT. Priced below $199, the 9600 GT will let you play graphics-intensive games like Call of Duty 4 and Unreal Tournament 3 at 1900x1200 with high image quality enabled at excellent frame rates. If you put two GeForce 9600GT cards together in SLI, you will actually get faster gaming performance than you would from a GeForce 8800GTX.

The raw specs of the 65nm GPU include 64 stream processors each clocked at 1,625 MHz, with the 512 MB GDDR3 card built on a 256-bit memory interface running at 900MHz.

I think that the NVIDIA 9600GT is EXECELLENT all i ever wanted to do was play games on my computer without trouble or the common horror *lag* all i had to do was go out n get this 9600GT for like 190bucks thats it and it has givin me my freedom so a big thankyou from me to you, Nvidia :)

The 9600GT is a shrunken version of th G92 chip.. But, when combined in Sli, it certianly ricks... I have used them for a week and a half now. I can play Crysis at all max settings and there is no artifacts or freezing at all. So for the $169 price tag from EVGA for the superclocked edition, its really not a bad set or cards. Granted its not faster than the 8800GTx or Ultra but who really has 500+ to spend or graphics cards??? Not all of us have high paying jobs and TOO much time on our hands... I for one aplaud nVidia for this card.

Класні робите відеокарти хлопці!
В мене самого NVIDIA і я задоволений нею.

Hi!
This is a question for nvidia friends,
Sorry but I new in the study of this technology!
I'm have one NX7300GT with 256 Mb, PCI-Express and SLI ready, but my other graphic Card is the 8800 GT superclochead edition with 512 Mb, PCI-E and SLI ready.
I can combined this 2 cards for the use of the SLI technology and have best performance?
Or for the moment only used the 8800GT?
Thanks, Alf

i agree with arjun. two 8800gt cards in sli themselves are tremendous performers for hardcore gaming and all.

I would still stick with my dual 8800Gt rather than SLI with 9600's.

I'd like to have 2 of these in SLI but I'm not buying a new motherboard for it. Come on nVidia, enable SLI for non-nVidia boards, we already know it works, just do it.

But how much, and presumably you'll need two to take advantage of the SLI advantage. What about compatiability and interface. These are the questions the average users must ask. Don't get me wrong, Nvidia is one of the most reliable component manufactures in the business, and their track record at keeping drivers updated is is singularly unique, incomparable with any other major producer in the business.

I consider the 7800GTX to 8800GTX performance jump a bigger one than the 9600 to the 8600...more so because these were the flagship cards when released and these were new architectures not just some die shrunken refresh (as some would say).
