Today NVIDIA announced our new GeForce GTX 260 and GeForce GTX 280 GPUs. The cards have been getting great reviews and I will post our forum champ ChrisRay's review later today.
However in the meantime I thought I'd call your attention to Vince "Kingpin" Lucido who got his hands on a 3-way SLI GeForce GTX 280 setup. You know the drill, he mods it, overclocks it, and then benchmarks it. His result? Over 17,000 at the Xtreme preset in 3dmark Vantage. All I could say was wow when I saw that score! Currently its over 2x over the latest 3dmark Vantage score.
how does one keep a esa system on a 780 motherboard evga. got the gear but system monitor flakes out and nvidia system does correspond well with user. can gxz2 work in sli with 8800 gtx or threabouts

Great bench but the Fps variation has got to be so unstable no matter what chip-set your running! If he want's true sustainability i would look at simple taking 2 7950gtx2's or 9800GTX+'s, (disabling the memory) and modding a set of Crucial Ballistix PC3-16000 2gb. It will take alot of work to get a 240pin socket(call ASUS) and changing the power settings to the GPU memory can be done via ASUS overclocking management(1.2 is needed) you'll near the same results as tripling the 280's but with stability Cost 220L -680L so 7950's for all of you who don't see the need of DX10 and 9800's for all of you who think DX9 is just a history lesson

Big relly get over yourself. He does these things because he can. Pushing technology to its limits is a hobby for some, and its nice to see what kingpin could do.
Thats a very impressive score, hope kingpin keeps up the work for years to come.

The gtx 280 is not that great unless you have 3 of them and even then you need a qx9770 overclocked to 4500 mhz to take advantage of three gtx 280 cards even then its a bottle neck .none of the mobos out can handle the combo well at all he should get 25,000 points with that hardware and overclock why bring out hardware that cant be used to its max i say
