ChrisRay's GeForce 9800 GTX+ preview, check out the GPU accelerated PhysX!

Physx_2

ChrisRay, our hard working SLI Zone forum moderator, posted another review today of the GeForce 9800 GTX+.  Keep in mind Chris is just a hardware enthusiasts who posts what he thinks about ours products.  He is very honest with us and isn't afraid to gives us his opinion on new products.  Trust me, I have many emails from Chris calling a spade a spade ;)

One of the new things about this review from Chris is that he can now test and evaluate GPU accelerated NVIDIA PhysX on real games.  Chris measured Unreal Tournament 3 gameplay in his 9800 GTX+ review, and here was his conclusion:

Final Thoughts: All I can say is wow. This was just a single 9800 GTX. Not even with SLI and the performance improvement was substantial. And there no loss to actual rendering gameplay performance due to using the stream processors to process performance effects before the final rendering. If Nvidia can continue to deliver PhysX performance like this and change the way we perceive Physics..all I can say is "Sign me Up". It really is quite incredible. This is with a 200 Dollar CPU and a 200 dollar GPU.

The GeForce 9800 GTX+ is another solid edition to our product lineup.  Give Chris a hand and post your comments in the SLI Zone forum.

9800 GTX is amazing, maxed settings at highest res available and Im tearing my games apart. World at War looks like a movie! Just got my second for SLI. E8400 Intel processor and one 9800GTX is under 400 dollars and will play every game I own without breaking a sweat. Havent tried Crysis yet, but Fear, Mass Effect, World at War, Oblivion, Fallout 3. World at War is really amazing, the guys look so real

Hi chris... i've been considering for some while about building an SLI rig...
i want to clear a couple of doubts of mine..

1)Does a higher clockspeed RAM like corsair dominator really make a difference during game play?

2)I also wanted to purchase a 22 inch LCD screen, other than the resolution (which is HD for me) are there ant other constraints that I should look over before purchasing?

3)I've seen some motherboards having a draw capicity of 8X and 16X from GPU's, pros and cons if any?

4)Finally, If i settle for a 3 way SLI, coudl you suggest the power unit I would need, and to suppliment that power would I need to get an expensive UPS??

Thx chris, appreciate it.
Cheers

Hi I just ordered a Motherboard XFX 780i and 2 XFX Geforce 9800 GTX cards.

But i'm having trouble with them to get working.. I found out when i instal the SMBUS driver (Driver for the motherboard) then i get a Blue screen.. When i then uninstall the SMBUS driver every thing is back to normal (running without the SMBUS Driver)

My Question is what might be the problem?

My system is:
MoBo: XFX 780i
Vid: XFX Geforce 9800 GTX+ (2 of them)
Memory: 4 GB OCZ

Hi,

I just testing Geforce 9800 GT and make it SLI on Skulltrail(Intel D58XS latest skue). It working stable with latest 1175RC bios. Run only with 1 CPU and 8GB memory. On 3D mark it score for only 13K compare with running on Smackover which is can score up to 24K.

i own an msi 9800 GTX+, can i use another brand like EVGA and sli them?

Guys, do me a favor. Recently i just bought Asus P5ND mobo and two Gigabyte Geforce 9800 GTX+ (hoping that it could improve my gaming experience, but sorry to say that i couldn't get any games run smoothly i.e. crysis, farcry 2, mass effect, nfs undercover, bioshock and etc...) I've installed the latest driver for the gpu, but when the pc restart until the win xp logo the screen will turn blank. I've to roll back the driver, only then i could access windows, but still having problem playing games. Please advice, thank you.

I have a Dell XPS 630i and I have to say that I am quite impress! First, we need to study our computer components and understand that technology is further ahead than we imagine. The motherboard is a nvidia 650 SLI/Crossfire. I have studied the ASUS 650 SLI board and realized that Dell has taken some of the ASUS capabilities and has gone beyond what the 650 format can do. But that is another story...Now getting to the SLI configuration and giving high praises to Nvidia, I have the EVGA 9800GTX+ 1gb. This card combined with my overclocked Core 2 E8200 @ 3.2Mhz with OCZ SLI memory @ 960Mhz, gives me a 3dMark06 score of 13,600. I will be picking up a second card in a couple of days and I can only imagine the performance gain I will have especially with the PhysX technology. I appreciate that Nvidia continues to push the bar. Obviously, Nvidia has realized that they have not acheived perfection but the progress shows that there is so much more to come in the future! Great work Nvidia!!!

Thanks for the wonderful years before and ahead.

XPS 630i
E8200 @ 2.67Mhz overclocked to 3.2Mhz
4gb of OCZ SLI memory @ 960Mhz
EVGA 9800GTX+ 1gb overclocked to 805Mhz/2000Mhz/2300Mhz
WD 500gb SATA hard drive
Vista Premium (32bit)

I've got a 8800GS and a 7800GTX both SLI ready. Can I run them in SLI withou a cable. What software should I use.

no entiendo nada

Currently I have the PhysX set to use my AGEIA card which I had previously purchased prior to Nvidia incorporating the capability in their cards. My question is whether this is better than simply pulling the AGEIA card out and using my two 8800GTS 512MB cards for PhysX?

ممكن اشتري الشريحة المتطورة

what should i choose 9800gtx from his or galaxy or gigabyte ?

my email : m.forouziATyahooDOTcom

can i set xfx 7300GT/512 with 8600/1g

can i want buy 8600
but i don`t know can match them

plz email me

Depends if the GTX+ core is different enough from the GTX to prevent SLI, because you can only SLI (vanilla) with the same core. Even if you were able to SLI a GTX+ with a GTX, combining rendering power of the two cards and the IGP is not SLI but GeForce Boost, and the 9800GTX is not GeForce Boost enabled.

Hi,
I actually own a Geforce 9800 GTX and a MB with an Intel Chipset.
I am prospecting to buy a MB with intel Hybrid Power + Sli Chipset.
Will it be possible to add a GeForce 9800GTX+ to the pack and take advantage of an "unconventional" Triple Sli?

In short:
1 Integrated GFX
1 Geforce 9800 GTX
1 Geforce 9800 GTX+
will that make it for a triple SLI?

Thanks
