[Update: Due to inclement weather, the matches have been postponed. Schedule updated below]

Put on your 3D Vision glasses because the Women’s Singles Final and Men’s Singles Final US Open matches will be streaming in full 3D via the official US Open website.

Last year’s 3D production of the 2010 US Open Tennis Championships – the first world-wide 3D broadcast of a major tennis tournament – was honored with a 2010 Emmy Award for technical achievement. This year’s expanded 3D broadcast coverage goes all-court with several new 3D-specific camera positions designed by the telecast partners, providing the best 3D perspectives. Capturing the action is a fleet of 10 broadcast 3D cameras and a high-speed 3D replay system. The US Open will also use a pre-production model of Panasonic’s new 3DP1 handheld Full HD 3D professional camcorder (available later this fall) to provide match and grounds coverage for the telecast.

Call your friends. Ask your significant other for forgiveness. Gear up and get ready to geek out for 48 hours of non-stop gaming goodness. The legendary GeForce LAN is back and, this time, it’s on an aircraft carrier.

As if stringing together miles of network cables wasn’t enough of a challenge, this will be the first time a 48-hour LAN party with hundreds of gamers will be held on the historic USS Hornet, a retired WWII-era aircraft carrier in Alameda, Calif., just outside San Francisco.

At this year’s GeForce LAN – in its sixth incarnation, if you’re counting – we’ll be showcasing the highly-anticipated Battlefield 3 (get the tie-in now with the USS Hornet?) PC game. Watch the trailers for this game and you’ll see why Battlefield 3 is sending PC gamers around the world into a veritable frenzy.

As usual, GeForce LAN will feature a massive BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) area, around-the-clock tournaments and contests, gobs of prizes and an exhibits area where you’ll find PC gaming vendors showing off their latest and greatest.

Registration will open soon. We’ll offer BYOC tickets (for those hardcore enough to spend 48 hours gaming with us), as well as general admission tickets (for those who just want to come by and experience this event, check out Battlefield 3, and the USS Hornet). We’ll also have limited spots available for sleeping aboard in the USS Hornet barracks for those in the BYOC.

Yes, boys and girls, you get room and board at this LAN party. We’ll even lead a few rounds of dodgeball on the flight deck to help you stretch your legs.

Don’t miss this event – just ask those who have been to a GeForce LAN before:

More details to be released in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

NSA members were invited to submit up to six original images each. Submissions ranged from landscapes to pets to digital compositions.

A panel of expert judges was tasked with choosing the best of the best. Congratulations to the following winners:

Grand Prize: Oleg Vorobyoff

First Prize: David Kuntz

Second Prize: David Kesner

Third Prize (tie): Chris Reynolds & John Stuart

If you have an NVIDIA 3D Vision-enabled system, grab your 3D Vision glasses and check out these stunning shots.

If you don’t have a 3D Vision kit, you can also enjoy the photos with a pair of anaglyph (red/blue) glasses.

As you can see, the opportunities to innovate with 3D photography are virtually limitless.

If you’ve been on the fence about upgrading your GeForce PC to add 3D Vision support, we have a treat for you.

Starting today, and for a limited time, NVIDIA 3D Vision wireless glasses kits include a free copy of Duke Nukem Forever. You can purchase the 3D Vision Duke Nukem Forever special edition today for $149 (USD MSRP) at these North American etailers: TigerDirect.com, Newegg.com and NCIX.

Or, look for the 3D Vision Duke Nukem Forever special edition bundle at your local retail store.

The game has sparked some controversy for its decidedly political incorrectness. But I’ve always been fond of Duke. Even with the cheesy lines, the bathroom humor and overly patriotic tones, Duke just has a way of winning your heart while you laugh at the over-the-top ridiculousness of the game.

Now, Duke Nukem looks better than ever. Once limited only to MS-DOS graphics, today Duke bursts out of the screen with full 3D Vision support, NVIDIA Surround support and HD graphics. Imagine hunting down aliens at up to 5760×1080 resolution in a completely immersive experience. You can’t beat the experience!

Some reviewers have been playing the game and they love the 3D experience. Here’s what they had to say:

“The Duke Nukem Forever experience in 3D Vision was a treat. Experiencing real 3D graphics makes the “flat” 3D we’ve grown used to seem primitive and limiting”

“Duke Nukem Forever gets two big thumbs up from this reviewer on the implementation of 3D Vision and also 3D Vision Surround – which is just “more is better” – the widescreen view adds to the game although fortunately most of the action takes place right in front of you.”

If you have a 3D Vision PC and want to get a quick look at how cool Duke Nukem Forever looks in 3D, visit the 3D screenshot gallery at 3DVisionLive.com.

NVIDIA’s Dan Vivoli helped kick off Computex in Taipei today with a keynote setting out our vision of the future of personal computing.

Dan, a longtime NVIDIA exec who serves as senior vice president, proposed a personal computing future centered on more powerful graphics technology, more immersive multimedia experiences and more powerful mobile devices.

You’d be hard-pressed, he noted, to find another industry where innovation flies at the speed it does in the technology sector. Performance has increased about a million times since he recalled entering the field three decades ago. Had the auto industry progressed at that same rate, cars would cost less than a dollar and fit in your pocket.

Technology advances aren’t just paving the way for more immersive 3D displays and more realistic 3D gaming graphics performance. They’re changing how we think about personal computing. Dan explained how personal computing is moving away the “classic” market where big, beige computer cases lived under your desk. We’re now coming to a “new” PC market, where tablets and smartphones become prominent computing platforms. And they’ll do this with more power than desktops of a decade ago, and at previously unimaginable price points.

The launch of NVIDIA’s more affordable, sub-$100 3D Vision Wired glasses at Computex 2011 reflects the push towards this new personal computing paradigm. They can help bring immersive 3D technology to the masses. At the same time, the 3D Vision Wired glasses will increase adoption of the technology and drive production of 3D-optimized multimedia content from movie and game makers around the world.

In the area of graphics performance, advances in new technologies, such as those applied by NVIDIA GeForce, will deliver richer, more realistic gaming experiences that promise to rival real-life. Tessellation technology makes it possible to create more realistic textures and surface details on everything from brick buildings to foaming water. And, NVIDIA is working directly with game developers to create games that will set new industry standards.

Leading the charge into the “new” PC market will be the Tegra mobile processor family, He made the case for mobile devices, like the Tegra 2-powered Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the ASUS Transformer tablets, replacing traditional gaming consoles outright. The highlight of his presentation was the Project Kal-El quad-core “Glowball” demonstration which we posted previously. The demo showed off the NVIDIA’s ability to bring real-time dynamic lighting to a mobile device (an industry first), thanks to the Kal-El quad-core mobile processor.

There’s a brand new product coming to the 3D Vision lineup this June – 3D Vision wired glasses. These glasses will deliver the same great 3D Vision features and quality you have come to know and love, at a more affordable price of $99 US MSRP.

When we first launched 3D Vision two years ago, our focus was on ensuring 3D Vision was supported on hundreds of PC Games. Since then we’ve broadened our efforts to include developing the best new features and functionality for you, our users. From 3D Vision Surround for gaming across three full-HD 3D displays, to Blu-ray 3D movie playback, to Window mode support for 3D games and applications.

And, just this week, we launched YouTube 3D Vision support, which gives you access to thousands of 3D YouTube videos in high-quality, stereoscopic 3D.

Along with the latest and greatest technology, it’s important that we deliver affordable products. In March we announced a lower price for 3D Vision wireless glasses kits: $149 US MSRP, $50 less than our original kit price. And now with 3D Vision wired glasses, enjoying 3D is more affordable than ever.

A bit more about the glasses: They connect via USB 2.0 to a PC or notebook, and work with all the existing 3D Vision content, displays and other devices. A notch in the USB connector enables you to use a standard cable lock system too – like those from Kensington – to secure the glasses to a PC or table. It’s a great feature for LAN parties and iCafé gaming centers.

Stay tuned for more info and look for 3D Vision wired glasses showing up at the NVIDIA store and from leading retailers/e-tailers starting in late June.

With the increasing number of 3D camcorders, tablets and smart phones available (Nintendo 3DS, Sony 3D Bloggie, and T-Mobile G-Slate 3D Tablet to name just a few) consumers have a lot more ways to create their own user-generated 3D content. And typically, the most popular place to enjoy user-generated content is YouTube, so today we’re bringing those two elements together, by announcing that all 3D Vision customers can now enjoy the 3D videos already up on YouTube in high-quality, full-color stereoscopic 3D with their 3D Vision PCs.

Websites can now even embed and stream 3D Vision-ready YouTube videos on any of their pages. Check out some of the best 3D YouTube videos with 3D Vision, posted here: www.3DVisionLive.com/YT3D

Together with YouTube and Mozilla, we are enabling this feature through the introduction of 3D WebM (http://www.webmproject.org/about/) encoded video streaming in Firefox 4 browsers.

To enable the feature, just follow these simple steps:

1.) Check to see if you have all the necessary components installed (http://www.3dvisionlive.com/3dv-html5-detection), including:

- NVIDIA 3D Vision (www.nvidia.com/get3d), which requires:

+ NVIDIA GeForce GPU

+ 3D Vision monitor, notebook or projector

+ 3D Vision glasses

+ 3D Vision IR emitter (USB or built-in)

Note: If you have a HDMI 1.4 3D TV and a GeForce PC, you can purchase 3DTV Play software. Find out more here: (www.nvidia.com/3dtv)

- NVIDIA Driver 275 or above

- Firefox 4 (or later) – www.firefox.com

2.) Go directly to Youtube and select the “HTML5 Stereo View” method from the list provided here: http://www.youtube.com/select_3d_mode

3.) Enjoy YouTube in all its 3D glory!

And for web developers that want to embed YouTube 3D videos or stream your own HTML5 videos, you can find more information under the HTML5 section here: http://www.3dvisionlive.com/apps.
