From photorealistic graphics to AI-enhanced visuals, there are unlimited possibilities to deliver personalized multi-channel content that enhances consumer experiences, while delivering deeper audience analytics and insights to broadcasters.
Experience how it’s all being powered by NVIDIA RTX technology at IBC 2019, the world’s most influential media and entertainment technology conference, taking place in Amsterdam from Sept. 13-17.
Whether in the desktop, data center or cloud, RTX technology is helping broadcasters and streaming services adapt to the mounting pressures of creating and delivering high-quality content faster than ever. This year at IBC, NVIDIA GPUs are powering solutions for over 70 partners.
New Realities
First popularized by The Weather Channel to convey the severity of weather conditions, broadcasters are using immersive mixed reality to put audiences in the heart of the story. With RTX ray tracing, cinematic-quality visuals are possible for ultra-realistic, live on-air graphics and virtual sets.
At IBC, see this technology powered by Epic Games Unreal Engine at The Future Group booth with Pixotope (stand 14.C03), Zero Density (stand 7.C49) and Brainstorm (stand 7.C19). Visit Vizrt (stand 7.B01) to see the unprecedented Viz Engine 4 showcase, highlighting the very latest advances in photorealistic real-time virtual sets and on-air graphics powered by NVIDIA Quadro RTX.
Attendees will also see a variety of Quadro RTX-powered desktops and mobile workstations, including:
- Dell EMC’s latest Precision Workstations, as well as NVIDIA RTX Server in hall 7 (stand 7.C39).
- HP’s latest Z by HP desktop and mobile workstations in hall 15 (stands 15.MS32 and MS33).
- Lenovo ThinkStations on display in the Adobe (stand 7.B35), Blackmagic Design (stand 5.B23) and AJA booths (stand 7.C25).
These Quadro RTX-powered systems are designed for end-to-end content creation and rendering, 8K post-production and AI-enabled workflows.
Larger Than Life
8K UHD is quickly becoming the standard for creating ultra-high-quality 4K UHD content. RED Digital Cinema (hall 13, Elicium meeting rooms, 4th floor) will be demonstrating real-time playback, editorial and color grading of 8K REDCODE RAW uncompressed video by offloading the compute-intensive decoding and debayering of RAW R3D files using NVIDIA GPUs.
With NVIDIA RTX, broadcasters can revive archived content, easily up-resing SD or HD content to 4K or 8K using AI. See Blackmagic Design showcase DaVinci Resolve using RTX-enabled features, including super scale, speed warp and facial recognition, in hall 7 (stand 7.B49).
For super-resolution workflows and faster content delivery, NVIDIA RTX’s high-performance transcoding uses dedicated NVENC/NVDEC hardware to enable faster-than-real-time encoding and decoding of 8K video.
See how other partners leverage GPU acceleration and performance, including:
- Autodesk Flame 2020 incorporates GPU-accelerated machine learning features, bringing Flame artists significant creative flexibility and performance boosts. Join Autodesk for their “Meet The Team” event at the DoubleTree Hotel on Friday, Sept. 13.
- Adobe Substance Painter with NVIDIA RTX ray tracing accelerates baking performance up to 192x faster than CPUs. Learn about NVIDIA CUDA optimizations in Adobe Premiere Pro, and see RTX-enabled interactive ray tracing with Adobe Dimension CC at the Adobe booth (stand 7.B35).
- Mellanox (stand 8.E21) will show how their intelligent interconnect solutions increase data center efficiency by providing the highest throughput and lowest latency, delivering 4K and 8K content even faster to applications.
- Anevia (stand 5.B66) will show Genova video compression encoders are now optimized to work with NVIDIA T4 GPUs, enabling OTT service providers to deliver programs in 4K HDR without increasing costs.
To further support creators, NVIDIA’s RTX Studio program works with industry-leading OEMs to design and validate laptop and desktop PCs purpose-built for content creators, and powered by NVIDIA Quadro and GeForce RTX GPUs.
Into the Home
Delivering content to the home is evolving to become a highly intelligent personalized digital distribution process. AI has enabled broadcasters and live streaming services to make individualized recommendations to match content to people based on past likes or dislikes, or using a similarity index.
Now, broadcasters can further improve consumer experiences with AI by allowing personalized content filtering or using new inputs such as mood or specific multi-dimensional parameters spoken in plain language by consumers using conversational AI.
Broadcasters can also gain much deeper viewer insights using advanced data analytics with NVIDIA RAPIDS, and then visualize these insights in real time using an NVIDIA Data Science Workstation.
See how EVS (stand 8.B90) uses NVIDIA GPUs as a hardware platform to execute the AI solutions they are developing for smarter and more efficient live production. From automatically steering robotic cameras using action prediction, to creating super-slow motion footage by generating missing frames, EVS is demonstrating the power and flexibility of AI at IBC.
Cloudification
With NVIDIA Quadro Virtual Data Center Workstation (Quadro vDWS) and NVIDIA T4 GPUs, broadcasters can scale compute resources and leverage RTX technology from the cloud, using popular design tools from anywhere.
NVIDIA RTX Server delivers extreme performance for offline and interactive ray-tracing workloads. As a highly flexible platform, NVIDIA RTX Server can be configured to offer powerful virtual workstations, a complete data science platform, HPC and simulation, transcoding services, as well as a 5G development platform for VR and AR.
Stop by some of our partners’ booths to see how this technology is being used:
- Google (stand 14.E01) will show how broadcasters use NVIDIA T4 GPU-accelerated virtualized workstations for all workloads. NVIDIA will also present “AI for Broadcast” in the Google booth to demystify deep learning and showcase real-world use cases for this technology.
- Amazon Web Services (stand 5.C80) will demonstrate a creative studio in the cloud that allows animation, VFX and post-production professionals to collaborate on digital content creation with greater agility.
- Teradici’s recent collaboration with NVIDIA enhances the PCoIP protocol to support GPU acceleration with Quadro Virtual Data Center Workstation and NVIDIA RTX Server to ensure a high-powered physical workstation experience from anywhere. See how artists, editors and creative professionals are using this technology at Microsoft’s booth (stand 1.C27).
- Cisco (stand 1.F78) will discuss how to accelerate AI and machine learning workloads using NVIDIA GPU acceleration combined with the manageability, scalability and performance of Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS).
